At the end of each chapter, there are 10 reflection questions. You will be required to respond to 1 reflection question of your choice for each chapter. Post your answer in the comments section below the prompt in the Spaces App. Answers must be at least 2 paragraphs, grammatically correct, and spell-checked.
Read the post of one class peer and comment one paragraph on what they said. Due each Friday. Class discussion may be based upon these reflections.
How can a fascination with Jesus fuel our prayer life and ministry?
We have to make Jesus the center of our life. He is our intercession to God. Without Jesus we are nothing. He is my everything and he should drive my ministry. The Holy Spirit leads me and convicts me on what to do...Jesus is God and his spirit lives inside me.
I pray that everyday I become closer and closer to Jesus and he transforms me to be more like him everyday. We should show the love of Jesus and be like Jesus in our community. When people see me I want them to see Jesus
3. How can fascination with Jesus fuel our prayer life and our ministry?
I believe that Jesus should be the center of our prayers and our ministry. Jesus is our link to God; without accepting Him as our Lord and Savior, and repenting of our sins, we would have no connection to God. My prayers are to be more Christ-like each day and to see the day where He comes again.
Jesus's character is of perfect leadership and love. Our goal is to be more Christ-like and to be a mature Bride ready for His second coming. I want to be prepared for that day and to help others to be prepared.
#10 How can study of the end times help equip us to endure and stay steady through the storms of life?
As we study the end times, we see great tribulation, ahead of us. A storm is coming like none other before. Just like every storm we have ever gone through in this life, we have made it through, as we kept our eyes on Jesus. In times of great trouble and trials, our hope ,to walk in peace on the other side of the storm , is always reassured through our walk with Jesus. These storms prepare us to have strong faith and a stronger relationship with Jesus. So many times we cry out to our Lord in these times, He hears our prayers and answers them, yet we don't give him thanks or even acknowledge his hand in all of it. Is it a test after test to grow us closer to Him? Perhaps it is to teach us to seek after Him. I have so many thoughts on how we as a people, think our lives have been so tough, yet I think of the heart ripping pain that Jesus went through for us. The perfect love He showed us through His death and resurrection, the model He set before us to live by. Yet, somehow we don't quit see it fully. For us to die to ourselves and be raised in Christ, to commute with him day and night in prayer, to seek His will and love ourselves as He loves us , this the bigger picture. If we believe Christ is our Savior and the mighty Lord of all. He is the Word! We are to study and draw to it, asking for wisdom and understanding and by believing we will receive it!
The end times study makes it real clear that we are to be as close to Jesus and we can possibly imagine. For me it means setting aside what the world believes and thinks of me and focusing on Jesus's plan and work that He has for me. Being busy learning the Word, living the Word and experiencing the Word, but not forgetting to bathe it all in prayer. Talk all day long to Jesus, drive with Jesus, cook with Jesus, dance with Jesus, be in love with Jesus. See Jesus in people, lead people to Jesus, live for His kingdom to come. Give Him all of you as He gave all of Himself for us. If we can draw closer and closer to God and get so personal with Him, it is then that we know we are carried steadily by His hand through any storms of this life that may seem impossible for us to bare. We are never alone and Jesus will never ask us to walk anywhere alone, for He is with us always! God always wins..it's in the final chapter!
#8 what truths connect in a helpful deep way in your heart & increase your confidence in love and leadership of Jesus
Truths in my own that connect to my heart is hearing from the lord during my personal prayer time . Following his obedience and still seeing him through the pain suffering I endured. Suffering draws my closer to the lord . Being obedient has really drawn me closer to know the lord on a deeper level. Serving, prioritizing church and prayer , and being active has helped me know the lord deeper.
What really had drawn me close to the lord was my sister in laws inviting me to church. It gave me an opportunity to know him period. I had an encounter with Jesus and it made me what more. When I started diving into the word I started knowing lord and creating a prayer life is when my relationship was intimate with the lord. Jesus as a leader is inspiring to me because he was kjind and compassionate. Jesus had a huge heart for the lost and broken, he valued people.
2. Why is it often so easy to dismiss the study of the end times as unimportant or unnecessary?
People ignore or avoid the study of the end times for many reasons. One of these is the belief that the end times are irrelevant because it is unknown. I think the logic goes like this, “Now is important. Jesus said that each day has enough trouble of its own. He also said no one knows the day or the hour of His return so it is impossible for me to prepare. Prophecies are almost impossible to understand because there's so much symbolism. If I can’t understand it and I can’t prepare for it then all I can do is worry about it. Since I’m not supposed to worry about the future then the less I know about it and the less I think about it the better.” But this is based on several commonly believed fallacies. The first of these is that thinking about an uncertain future is the same as worrying. Thinking about the future is vital in making good decisions. Being prepared is prudent and the result of wanting to have a good future. Students study for tests, pastors prepare their sermons, and throughout history, people have tried to get glimpses into the future to prepare for it or even change it. God has given prophecies that tell us what to expect at the end of the ages. It is only reasonable to study them so we can know what we are to do. Prophecies are not impossible to understand; we can ask the Holy Spirit to give us understanding. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Another erroneous belief is that there is no point in studying the end times. I think the logic might go something like this, “There are so many different ideas of what the end times will be like and when they will happen that it is impossible to determine who is right and what will happen. Even if I can arrive at my own conclusion or adopt someone else’s it will likely be wrong. If it is so difficult to find the right answer, if not impossible, why should I bother? Every conclusion I arrive at will be wrong. Is it not better to choose not to know than to choose the wrong idea and be proven wrong? If I don’t learn anything about the end times then I am ignorant instead of wrong.” This is a very apathetic viewpoint. It is truly based on pride. This person is so fearful of being wrong that he would rather remain ignorant when he has the opportunity for knowledge and wisdom than be wrong. He has a very low opinion of himself, assuming that he is incapable of understanding and correctly interpreting the Word of God. He also has little trust in God. He is relying on his understanding rather than trusting God to reveal the truth to him and to give him discernment. God cares about His children and He has allowed us to be prepared for Jesus’ Second Coming. It would be foolish to ignore this opportunity and remain unprepared.
7. What areas of your heart and life do you find yourself struggling with confidence regarding the leadership of Jesus?
I believe the area I struggle with the most is in the daily routines of life. I don’t seem to struggle with walking in the Spirit and living a holy life of obedience, I struggle with what to say sometimes in the busyness of life, i.e. family and at work. I want to speak truth in love, but sometimes it just comes out in truth. I’m not sure if it’s because of my bold personality or passion for the truth but I want desperately to model Jesus’s words and His heart for others even when they’re seemingly “unlovable”.
I want my speech to be concise and powerfully filled with truth, and for the right reasons, not defensive or hurtful even knowing that the Sword of Truth hurts and cuts to the heart, I don’t want to be in the way of what God is doing in the other person. I just want to be confident that I’m hearing my Father correctly, and doing and saying only what He is doing and saying. It is the desire and cry of my heart, I want to get out of my own way, crucify my flesh to line up my thoughts and heart with His so I can help other people know Him better. I want to always remember and be aware that it is Jesus who is doing the work. Sometimes I doubt that I’m even making a difference; however, I’m thankful for the ways the Holy Spirit confirms and affirms me through prayer and conversation with Him and also through the Body of Christ.
